India come into the match with 3 wins out of three, defeating Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand while Australia started the tournament with a dominating win over England but had their other two matches against South Africa and Afghanistan abandoned due to rain.
In ODIs, India and Australia have faced each other 151 times with Australia coming out on top in 84 matches while India were victorious in 57 games. 10 matches had no result. The last time these two sides met in a 50-over ICC event was in 2023 where Australia defeated India in the World Cup final in Ahmedabad.
Australia reclaim Border-Gavaskar Trophy: 2024-25
There was no lack of hoopla in the build-up to India’s tour of Australia in December and January, and when the visitors won the first Test comprehensively, it seemed as though they would return home with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
However, Australia quickly turned things around and ended up winning three of the remaining four Tests to reclaim the trophy after nearly a decade.
